Travelling in the New Normal

Travelling in the New Normal

April 13, 2021

Be it planned or unplanned, change is inevitable part of our lives. This pandemic has brought travel to a standstill. And, in all this, most of us have missed travelling more than anything else. It’s not just us but even the airlines, hotels, cruises and other travel-based sectors are keen for people to travel again.

Every day there are new rules and regulations for travelling to other places, cities, states, or countries. The government is slowly and gradually easing up the restrictions for travelling but the fact remains that travelling won’t be same as it used to be before the pandemic. Apart from checking our passport, Visa, and flight tickets, we will have to also check for face mask, RTPCR test report (before travelling) and get our temperatures checked at the departure and arrival places. Social distancing and sanitizing are must.

Listing below are the travel essentials post pandemic:

  1. Install Aarogya setu app on your phone.
  2. Carry masks and gloves (quantity as per your travel schedule)
  3. Carry a Hand Sanitiser and don’t forget to sanitize your hand after touching any objects that are used in general.
  4. Disinfectant spray should be used while travelling through any of the public transport. Disinfect your bags, wallets or any such items that could possibly carry the virus from outside.

Just as we are settling into ‘new normal’ in our daily lives, we are also gearing up to find safer ways to travel and explore the world.

Tips to select destination for travelling post lockdown:

  1. Check the quarantine guidelines and safety procedures of the destination.
  2. Choose your destination where the travelling during this pandemic is safe. Keep check on the number of cases and the spread of virus for the destination that you are planning to travel.
  3. Go for destinations that don’t require different modes of transportation.
  4. Avoid going to places that requires using public transportation.
  5. Avoid places that are usually crowded.
  6. If possible, prefer travelling during off-peak times.

The post pandemic era will bring about many changes that were probably important like safe and efficient travel process with the use of artificial intelligence. It would result in fast and easy travel and no long queues. Local travel would increase rather than travelling long distance.

Vaccine passport could be introduced to standardize the health rules all over the world. Travel and technology will be inseparable. Starting from web check-in to printable baggage tags, travel will be shifting towards digitalization. Online bookings and payments would be preferred to avoid human contact. Packing light and right will have to become new norm. Carrying minimum luggage would be the best option for minimizing indirect physical contact with others.

Sooner or later, we will adapt to this new normal, meanwhile give yourself space and time to relax and be optimistic in this challenging time.

Let’s hope to travel soon so that you tick off your travel bucket list.
